Basel ist die drittgrößte Stadt der Schweiz und liegt am Dreiländereck Schweiz - Frankreich - Deutschland. Basel hat ca. 170.000 Einwohner und ein Meterspur-Straßenbahnnetz mit 10 Linien und einer Länge von 83 km. Es gibt zwei große Strassenbahnunternehmen, die Basler Verkehrsbetriebe BVB und die Baselland Transport (BLT).

Basel is the third-largest town in Switzerland/Europe and is situated at the borderlines of Switzerland - France and Germany. Basel has approx. 170.000 inhabitants and a 1000mm gauge tramway network of 83 km length and some 10 lines. There are two tramway companies - BVB (Basel public transport company) and BLT (Baselland Transport).
