The tramway connects the two towns on the Bou-Regreg river, with Rabat being the capital of Morocco and home to around 650,000 inhabitants, while Salé is gradually approaching the 1 million population mark. There are two standard-gauge lines with five shared stops. There are 66 Citadis 302s in operation, 60 of which are non-genuine bidirectional vehicles with only one driver's cab, but doors on both sides. These run rear-to-rear coupled as 65 metre long units. The six other vehicles are genuine bidirectional vehicles.
